From the edge of wilderness in the western Upper Peninsula on the highest farm in Michigan, Sundborn Inc announces the premier availability of the Sundborn Sweater, hand knitted in our own hand spun 100% GreenWool yarn from our hand raised Icelandic sheep. It is offered by commission only and only in the Sundborn Sweater Ensemble which includes the essentials necessary for the safekeeping of this exceptional heirloom garment.
Working with GreenWool yarn is a special experience for our circle of local, highly skilled hand knitters. They deeply appreciate the privilege of knowing the lively hand spun skeins from our hand raised Icelandic flock.
In addition, at Sundborn each hand knitter greatly enjoys the tradition of crafting gifts as for family and friends, focusing simultaneously on the work at hand but also on the Sundborn Sweater’s recipient. For her, it is simply the nature of the task: like a mother fashioning something special for her special little girl or a grandmother knitting on tiny needles for a baby not yet born, but definitely envisioned, definitely loved. From experience, each knitter knows well that the clearer the image of the person she is knitting for, the more focused, assured, and comfortable she’ll be, the more forceful the easy flow of loving intention.
For these reasons, the Sundborn Sweater Ensemble is available by commission only. Sadly, there are hand knitters elsewhere engaged in manufacturing piecework to sit on a shelf waiting for no one in particular. But at Sundborn our hand knitting is always intended for a definite person and is therefore by nature definitely done with love. Our Commission Authorization Form provides space for as many personal details about the recipient as possible. An accompanying photograph is ideal, at the very least a given name.
