Hand knitted in the pure Icelandic wool from our hand raised sheep, it is created with the loving intention that all hand knitters express in their custom work. The Sundborn Sweater Ensemble becomes the perfect gift for yourself or for another and always our gift to you.
The Sundborn Sweater itself is hand knitted in GreenWool, our unique fiber fashioned from the new wool of our hand raised Icelandic sheep. On our small family farm, the yarn is hand spun directly from each fresh black fleece and then hand washed in spring fed waters with vegetable soaps. Each Sundborn Sweater is hand knitted by local artisans from just one animal’s wool.
The seamless Sundborn Sweater is suited for multi layering in intense cold or wearing outdoors on brisk spring and fall days as an outer garment. The fit is relaxed, and the lengthy tunic terminates in a broad section of extra dense double knitting, providing easy warmth where it is most appreciated.
The hood with broad ribbing snugs the head.
The yoke in the rare woven basket stitch warms the back and shoulders with a dense Celtic pattern.
For pullover style, the placket is secured by a horn toggle button closure with brain tanned leather.
Offered by commission only, the Sundborn Sweater is available in twelve sizes from 2 for toddlers through double X for adults as part of the Sundborn Sweter Ensemble.
Uncontaminated by chemical treatments of any kind, the Sweater requires the extraordinary measures for safekeeping which the Ensemble provides. Moth Balm herbal sachets, an archival organic muslin storage bag, and the especially designed hardwood chest provide lasting protection for the Sweater. Aftercare service for cleaning and repair is available also for an additional consideration.
